About Fuse Pilates

Fuse Pilates® started in 2005 and quickly became one of Washington, DC’s favorite fitness offerings because our classes combine the best elements of classical Pilates, barre, and yoga in under one hour.

Each class at Fuse focuses on developing functional and balanced strength and flexibility. We’re spotlight the mind-body connection magic of Pilates while helping all students reach their goals.

At Fuse, you’ll never get bored or plateau as every class begins with the question “What do you want to work on today?” This ensures that each session is different from the last because our classes are driven by your request. Regardless of the focus, we’ll still work all 360 degrees of you, front to back, top to bottom. We want you to have fun, work hard, and see results!

Redefine Hardcore, Fuse Pilates tagline

SMALL GROUP CLASSES

  • Fuse Reformer combines the traditional with the far-from-traditional, taking you through a total body workout on one of Pilates’ favorite and most famous apparatus. We offer Back to Basics for a hardcore workout at a beginner’s pace, and Power for those familiar with the apparatus and ready to reach new goals. Of course, all classes are still taught by student request and choreographed to music.

We also offer Reformer Jump board for you endurance junkies. This reformer-based class incorporates plyometric intervals using the Pilates jump board with bursts of strength training for arms, legs, abs, back, and glutes. You’ll be having so much fun you won’t even notice you’ve worked up a sweat. Fancy that!

  • Fuse Mat, the original Fuse class, is a flowing mat class choreographed on the spot to music, and focused on requests from the students. Deep abs? Glutes? Arms? Upper back? Throw out your request, and we’ll help you redefine it. This is an all-level class, and teachers can (and happily do) make modifications.

Don’t forget to try our Fuse Mat Props class for the Fuse Mat workout you love with the added variability of Magic Circle, Over Ball, weights, and more!

  • Fuse Ladder is a full body, challenging and fun workout. Focusing on functional movements, spring and body weight exercises, and balance challenges, Ladder goes after both the big muscles and the smaller, stabilizing muscles. Expect to climb, hang, lunge, squat, push, pull, and more. As with all other Fuse classes, Ladder is taught on request and backed up with fun music. Come and try this class at Fuse Ladder’s birthplace!

  • You’ve moved on the reformer, you’ve rolled around on the mat, but this innovative class from Fuse gives you the chance to experience Pilates in new ways on two other highly effective apparatus. This class combines Tower – a stable apparatus that unlocks a whole new universe of exercises ranging from basic to gravity-defying, and Chair - one of the original pieces of equipment first engineered by Joseph Pilates that challenges your athletic balance and deepest core strength. The main focus of this class is to build strength, stability, flexibility, and endurance.

FUSE PILATES INSTRUCTORS

Anita, Fuse Pilates Instructor

ANITA SINGH

What are your specialties? Highly athletic classes, suspension training and creative strength challenges, classes that draw inspiration from all forms of movement, and pre/post-natal

How do you define your class vibe? Intense but playful. I try to program my classes so they will push you to your limits but you will surprise yourself (and smile) along the way!

Music that gets you moving? Mashups, pop remixes, T Swift, Beyoncé’s Renaissance, Sofi Tukker, EDM with a good bass drop

Favorite place in the world? Anywhere I can hang out with my family. Preferably with gym equipment, books, a good view, and amazing food/drink.

Dani, Fuse Pilates Instructor

DANI MACALISTER

What are your specialties? Mat is my first love - the focus on core work and for its accessibility for beginners makes it easy to jump in while being a challenger at the expert level. I love ab sets and supine series to really strengthen the core and get the heart beating.

How do you define your class vibe? My classes are dynamic, always challenging, but never without silly moments and smiles!

Music that gets you moving? Music sets the mood in my classes and I keep a variety of very thoughtfully curated playlists. Harry Styles is usually in there to motivate us through the teasers and planks ;)

Favorite place in the world? My heart belongs in Italy, a little town in the South called Terlizzi, where my family is from. Being in Terlizzi is like stepping back in time, but to a storybook where all the villagers sing and dance around the clock tower and the birds help you hang your laundry on the line.

Marisa, Fuse Pilates Instructor

MARISA JOHNSON

What are your specialties? Challenging you to hold a pose a little longer, do a few more repetitions of an exercise, and overall push yourself to do a little more each and every class.

How do you define your class vibe? Classes are high energy and focused, encouraging you to burn away any stress in your life by leaving it on the mat.  Students, on the other hand, describe my classes as leaving you “feeling like you were hit by a truck in a way that makes you want to come back week after week.”

Music that gets you moving? Classic rock and anything else with a good, propulsive beat.

Favorite place in the world? Tuscany. But more locally, the bike paths by the Potomac.

Lisa, Fuse Pilates Instructor

LISA OKSALA

What are your specialties? My specialties are introducing people to Pilates, finding the challenge in even the most basic moves, and encouraging everyone in my classes to feel stronger, more aligned, and better in their bodies after each class.

How do you define your class vibe? Chill and focused, with some humor thrown in- laughing is core exercise.

Music that gets you moving? Throwbacks! I don't think I have a playlist that doesn't include at least one 90's song or cover.

Favorite place in the world? I love the ocean- sand between my toes, a beautiful sunrise and warm cup of coffee!

RACHEL HORNSTEIN

What are your specialties? Creating flows that make sense and are versatile enough for all levels in each class. I love mobility work and watching students find a new strength each time!

How do you define your class vibe? My classes tend to be more athletic while keeping focus on form and control. I always like to try something new to ensure we're keeping your muscles and your brain progressing!

Music that gets you moving? The louder and funkier the better! Sometimes that's Chromeo, sometimes thats an Earth Wind & Fire remix. Here and there I'll add in some hip hop and throwbacks, honestly it's anyones guess what we're listening to each day. Just give me a beat!

Favorite place in the world? Overall, Kauai, hands down. In DC, I love Meridian Hill Park in the sun with some friends, or a solid happy hour at Hanks Oyster Bar

TORI ELLIS

What are your specialties? Pre/post natal, athletic, yoga

How do you define your class vibe? challenging, cognitive work, unpredictable

Music that gets you moving? Beach House, old school hip-hop like A Tribe Called Quest and Latryx; the Yeah Yeah Yeah’s, Phantogram and Santigold

Favorite place in the world? Any island off the coast of Greece

Saba, Fuse Pilates Owner

OWNER: SABA ALAVI-PARHAM

Saba became a client of Fuse Pilates when the studio opened it’s first brick and mortar location in 2010, having already fallen in love with Pilates since the age of 22 when it helped her overcome reoccurring back pain. Eventually, Saba joined both Fuse and Balanced Body’s Teacher Training to deepen her practice and learn more about the method that brought joy and pain relief into her life.

With a background in IT and project management and an entrepreneurial streak, Saba decided to buy the business in January of 2020 and continue its legacy of being a woman-owned small business. Once she launched into tackling the COVID pandemic, Saba used her experience to take the brand’s signature mat classes online and kept 100% of the studios’ instructors employed throughout the pandemic.

Saba’s goal for Fuse Pilates is to create an environment where people want to be and leave feeling amazing.
